Yes, did you learn this in school? Have you heard of the Swamp Fox--probably, movies made about him. Have you heard of Oscar Marion? Oscar was the black brother of Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox. War hero that drove the British nuts. The Swamp Fox and Oscar Marion would attack with their troops in Georgia and later disappear into the swamp. In a ceremony President George Bush honored Oscar Marion as an African American Patriot who fought 8 years in the American Revolution right alongside his brother, Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox. These men deserve to be recognized and taught as heroes in our schools. Do students in school today learn about these black heroes? Bet not...
