Benjamin Franklin as a young man
If you met Franklin today I believe you couldn't help but like him, he was charming and the ladies were attracted to him. He was just engaging! Well, Washington knew this and he knew he needed 24 ships to beat the British. So off to the French Court Franklin went and with his famous charm got France to give us 24 war ships, including the Ville de Paris, 110 cannons on board. Washington tricked the British and then Fleet Admiral de Grasse from the West Indies shot the British masts down and Cornwallis was hemmed in. Did you learn this in school? Bet not
Strieby wasn't going to put Franklin in her book, WHY IS A SPY CALLED A MOLE--ABOUT THE REVOLLUTION, but after 4 years of reearch she forgave him for not going to his wife's funeral and here Franklin is in the French Court with a beautiful woman of the French Court.
