Nathan Hale (American History Not Taught in Schools) Perhaps Hale, Not Yale
He was underfunded, his troops were good at shooting but he was short on ammo. They had to fight the winter cold and were short on warm clothing, boots, food--in general--supplies. But he did have spies. If you have been following the blogs of Lorraine Strieby and Mayor Molly McMole's adventures you know about the American Revolution, George Washington, Mr. Billy Lee, but did you know about Nathan Hale.
He graduated from Yale and volunteered to fight for our country. Washington was losing the war and was in Manhattan losing to the Brits. Remember, he couldn't sign the Declaration of Independence because he was out fighting for our freedom.
Well he asked his troops for one volunteer to go behind the enemy lines and be a spy--get the goods on these soldiers who were taking away our rights to be respected throughout the world. Well, at the time only one soldier stood up and volunteered. And, indeed, he was good at what he volunteered to do and helped Washington beat the Brits but he was caught and paid with his life.
He died with honor, and his last words are still quoted today, "I only regret that I only have but one life to lose for our country."
He was disguised as a school teacher and worked as a spy for a few weeks before he was executed by the Brits. Some people think that Yale University should be changed to Hale University. Nathan Hale had no slaves while Eli Yale was a slave trader.
I'm so proud of my ancestor Christopher McMole, master spy for George Washington-- please read about the American Revolution by Lorraine Strieby. Well here she comes so I am going to hop down my mole hole.

Imagination--A Great Tool in Illustrating Children Books--The Mayor Molly McMole's Series

Right now I'm illustrating a children's book for another author, one of my joys in life--illustrating. Why?
Our family didn't get a TV until I was 12 years old, and since I read a lot I developed my imagination. Let's see, my ordinary house became a palace so I was a princess, our back yard became a stage where I could be a ballet dancer, an acrobat--specializing in backbends and cartwheels.
Growing up in Morgantown, WV, we had lots of clouds so when I took timeout I could lie down and look up in the sky and see angles, dragons, horses, cats, dogs, sailing ships in full sail.
Having a love of music, I played the piano, accordion, clarinet and I loved to listen to music, play music, dancing with my boyfriend, slow dancing, the twist, even the bunny hop.
When TV videos came out with the hit singer, rapper, rock group, I thought "hey, when I hear Casey and the Sunshine Band, I want to have my own memories--not someone else's. Same goes for Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis, Louis Armstrong, Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, Lena Horne, Ella FitzgeraldDoes anyone know if these artists even did videos?

Well, my point is we had to use our imagination a lot. People haven't lost their imagination because there are some really good authors today and film directors. My favorite was John Hughes who did: Sixteen Candles, Farris Bueller's Day Off, Home Alone l and 2, the Breakfast Club. Why was he so great--because he never forgot how to be a kid.
Well, that happens to a lot of us and I believe that I never forgot either--so children books are my bag, either writing and illustrating the Mayor Molly McMole books or illustrating for another author..
Well, "thats all, folks," Happy Sailing," Lorraine Strieby, aka Mayor Molly McMole

GEORGE WASHINGTON--TAUGHT BY THE IROQUOIS TO FIGHT AND LED HIS TROOPS WITH BLACK AIDE MR. BILLY LEE
Now that you know I write as Mayor Molly McMole in a blog about the adventures of Mayor Molly McMole and her mole tribe, she also wrote a book, staring this hero. Yes, her ancestor, Master Spy Christopher McMole was his spy--WHY IS A MOLE CALLED A SPY.
Why not, spies are secretive little fellows. Not only that they live underground, they also come out during the day but no one sees them. Have you ever seen a mole? I think not...
Well, Washington was a self-trained officer. At first he paid to get a commission in the French Indian War at 21 a very young age. A couple of famous Senecas taught him how to fight, and a black man became his best friend and aide in the American Revolution.
Now what is amazing is he paid to get into the first war, the French Indian, and was only 21 and his commander, General Braddock got himself killed, and this kid was left as one of the leaders, fighting along side the Senecas and fighting like a Seneca.
That was easy for him because at an early age he learned to ride a horse. Now in the Revolution, he didn't ride any horse, he rode the most famous horse ever, Nelson was his name. The horse is not the white one you see in pictures, but a sorrel with white stockings and an uneven blaze. Together they were dynamite, one spirit, perfect for leading the troops, along with black Aide, Mr. Billy Lee, a better horseman than Washington. This guy Mr. Billy Lee saved Washington's life a couple of times in the war.
Now here is the SAD thing--what I just wrote was all true and I bet you never knew. Why??? Because they don't teach American History. They don't think it is important--that people came to escape tyranny and wrote the American Constitution, one of the greatest documents every written.
